Era was born to a struggling family in Kugane, becoming ostracized for having blue fur and an uncontrollable urge to be near the ocean all the time. Her parents as well for birthing what they called demon, abandoning her on The Isle of Bekko in hopes of gaining some favor back from their peers, her parents left her to will of the land at the age of five.
Not very long after her abandonment, the Kojin found her and took her in. After seeing her strong connection with the spirit of the ocean, they taught her their ways and the entirety of their culture. Era was raised by them in Tamamizu, living by their teachings and becoming accustomed to life beneath the waves.
By the age of eighteen, Era had begun following the teachings of Samurai, bidding a temporary farewell to her adoptive family to learn more on land. From Othard to The Black Shroud, she learned all she could from the residents who would give her the time. Four years after her arrival, she left for La Noscea to meet a friend. Upon her docking, she met new people who opened her eyes to the extreme differences between the land and sea.She never speaks of her history or family, keeping everything a tightly locked secret to protect those she cares for.
